Rev (Justice) Elizabeth Osinuga’s sermon during our Zoom mid week prayer meeting today by Askew Road Church, London.

“And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever” Exodus 14:13 NKJV

In the story of the Israelites journey to their promise land; the Bible tells us that they were suddenly confronted by the Red Sea. At the same time, the Egyptian army was already behind them. They found themselves in a situation of no way forward no way backwards because the enemy was already closing in on them; and (2) Going back to Egypt was not an option to their leader, Moses. Any hope of escape by Human knowledge or know how was no longer there. But there is always hope in God however bad the situation may be. And so Moses told the People of Israel to “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord”.

To stand still means for man to stop their own activities, their own conjecture, their own wisdom in fashioning the way out.

The entire universe being ravaged by the Pandemic is also in a situation that can be likened to the Israelites being locked between the Egyptian Army and the Red Sea. On the one hand, the Pandemics is taking the lives of man in hundreds and thousands. Leading to the lockdown and border closures world over. And, on the other hand, the Economy of Governments and the earning power of each Household are being threatened as a result of the lockdown.

Moses and the Israelites were torn between Pharaoh capturing them and taking them back into slavery OR having to be drowned in the Red Sea. Today, human race and their Governments are torn between either to lift the lockdown which may result in fresh wave of COVID-19 infestation and OR to keep the lockdown on and the economy remains locked down.

This is the dilemma of nations and dilemma of human beings at different times of our lives, and confusion sets in. It is such dilemmas that lead to sayings like choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea. But God is never confused. Before the problem came to man, God already provided the solution. But to access the solution there’s need to stand still, turn to God, focus on Him and trust Him.

But if you keep your focus on your situation; there will be confusion and depression.

Therefore let us Stands Still for God’s Devine intervention. Surely there will ultimately victorious in the end as we ask Him for Devine solution

So what must we do?

1. Remove our focus from the destructive power of COVID 19 –

2. Remove your focus from the dwindling economy of the world

3. Remove your focus from any fear over our finances

4. Remove your focus from the fear of loss of job

Because Man’s worry has ever changed anything. Jesus knowing the enormity of the attack the Disciples will face said to them- “Let not your heart be troubled” John 14:1.

Therefore, brethren, in all the pandemic affecting both lives and economy of the world; and threat to job security; Jesus is saying to you that no matter how the lockdown is affecting you socially and economically; Jesus says: let not your heart be troubled, rather focus more on God through the scriptures and through your prayers and trust Him. The scripture says “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” (Proverbs 20:7)

Prophet Isaiah says that God will keep in perfect peace those whose minds is stayed on Him, because they trust in God..(Isaiah 26:3).

Jesus says: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. -John 14:27. The Holy Spirit the comforter will keep our hearts at peace in Jesus name.

As you stand still before God on behalf of human race, in your prayers; trusting God and waiting on Him, Devine intervention will come just as it did come for Moses and the children of Israel. And He will help us to come out of every thus Pandemic test in Jesus name (1 Cor.10:13 MSG)

The Psalmist says: “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” – (Psalms 46:10). God also promised to be the stability of your times, and be your abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge… (Isaiah 33:6). This is a great assurances for why you need to be still even in the midst of the Pandemic and economic instability and trust Him.

In this Season, God will appear. He will give His wisdom to man for the way out of the Pandemics and there will be a pleasant surprise of victory over the Pandemics with new songs on every ones lip in Jesus name.

Just as it was that in a moment, Pharaoh and his chariot of war became a thing of the past, this too shall pass in a moment in Jesus name.
