You create the identity you want for yourself, just as my ancestors did when they were given their freedom. Because in 1865 when slavery was abolished in the United States, former slaves had to choose a name. A surname, to be exact. Perhaps the closest thing to connecting me to my ever-complex family tree, my longing to know where I come from, and the commonality that links me to my bloodline, is the choice that my great-great-great grandfather made to start anew. He chose the last name Wisdom. He drew his own box – Meghan Markle

The best way to round up Thy Kingdom Come prayer network is to pray and reflect on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding in anticipation of the Ultimate Royal Wedding, the Second Coming of Jesus. True believers are anticipating the appearance of Jesus Christ in the clouds of heaven, coming with great power and great glory. Sixty-five years after Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation, and thirty-seven years after Princess Diana’s marriage, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding aptly described as the “most modern royal romance” is taking place today, Saturday, May 19, 2018. The venue is St George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle, where Prince Harry was christened. The symbolism of this royal wedding at a time when racism is becoming fashionable globally not only suggests the Royal family as an inclusive family but a Royalty with the fear of God. In the wake of President Trump’s policy of building walls and ‘of Brexit and the controversies of immigration policy and race,’ the symbolism of the royal wedding is immensely positive for the healing of homes and nations.

The testimonies that followed the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge despite mixed reactions by the tabloid press calling Kate just a “commoner,” resonates with the mix global curiosity and media hype about Meghan, described as a “royal newcomer.” Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle is white and mother, Doria Ragland is African-American. The royal wedding of Meghan, an American, bi-racial actress to Prince Harry, the Queen Elizabeth’s grandson provides the world a cultural and spiritual continuity, renewal, and universal impact of God’s plan and purpose for homes through marriage between a man and a woman. This modern royal wedding that is beyond the brides or groom’s origins, identity, political and economic differences invites us to the Ultimate Royal Wedding of the Lamb of God with people from every Tribes and Nations.

The symbolism of Kate and Meghan marrying into our British Royalty points to God’s plan and purpose of an egalitarian and racially mixed and not divided humanity. The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan suggests renewing marital example beyond an experiment but a call to ‘an act of worship in which marriage is celebrated as a gift of God and the joy of the couple is shared and their commitment to each other is witnessed by family and friends.’ The modern royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan ‘open the minds and hearts of those who judge solely on race, but instead value a person’s heart and actions.’  Andrew Morton, in his new book, Meghan, A Holywood Princess, uncovered Meghan’s ‘fraught family life-a painful experience mirrored by Harry’s own background,’ and how the royal romance played out not only across two continents but across the world. In reminiscent of Princess Diana’s legacy and passions, Morton reminds us about Meghan’s vision as humanitarian ambassador.

Patrick Jephson, the first and only private secretary and chief of staff to Princess Diana in his new book, The Meghan Factor: A Royal Expert’s Insight on American’s New Princess – And How She Could Change the Windsor Dynasty Forever described Meghan’s entrance into the revered royal lineage as ‘a historic landmark for the British Crown, marking either a 21st-century renaissance or final proof that the dynasty after Elizabeth may be fated to a slow demise.’ One of the fears of Jephson, a long time royal insider is based on the Wallis Simpson’s marriage to King Edward VIII in 1936 that cost him his throne and earned him a lifetime of exile. Prince Harry and Meghan on their historic landmark for the British Crown points to a 21st century renaissance rather than final proof that the dynasty after Elizabeth II may be fated to a slow demise. Meghan, described by Jephson as ‘a royal newcomer’ have no better model than Elizabeth II, “whose lifetime of dedicated public service sets a standard,” and model to follow, especially in her transition to life in a palace. Meghan is also bringing the special insight to the transatlantic dimension to the royal line up, the royal wedding in contrast Jephson’s assessment is not a marital gamble in the House of Windsor but a marital symbolism of many colours.

Using the words of Jephson, it is true to say that “Meghan factor meets the Majesty factor.” Just as Meghan is doing everything for her smooth transition into the Royalty, the Royal family are doing some adapting to Meghan. One of Meghan’s factor in relation to her father’s health condition after undergoing heart surgery hence, his inability to attend the wedding readily meet the Majesty factor of inclusiveness and embrace. According to the Palace, the Prince of Wales is poised to walk Meghan down the aisle and “pleased to be able to welcome Ms Markle to the Royal Family in this way.” Meghan factor meets the Majesty factor of trusting Harry’s judgement with her approval for the two to marry without hesitation. Meghan factor meets the Majesty factor of hospitality with the Palace’s invitation to Meghan ‘to Buckingham Palace for tea and even got to go to Sandringham for Christmas. Though she and Harry were engaged at the time, going to their Norfolk estate for Christmas is normally reserved for the spouses. But the Queen doesn’t mind when it comes to Meghan!’ Meghan factor meets the Majesty factor of open hand to the royal wedding at the Queen’s castle, her favourite residence.

The symbolism of Meghan factor as ‘a royal newcomer’ resonates with the Biblical factor that invite and connect you and I as Kingdom newcomers without the intimidation newcomers feel when attending church. What amount to a smoothly flowing activities like the traditions, the rubrics of worship among others could become intimidating barriers to become part of an unfamiliar church. We are all newcomers and commoners in God’s Kingdom (Gen 3:3). Just as Prince Harry reached out to Meghan regardless of her background is the way Jesus is reaching out to you and I to sit with Him in high places and promised thrones. Welcoming newcomers is more spiritual than friendly greeters at the door because the devil don’t want people in the church and in Christian marriage, we need to pray for all newcomers in marriage (including Prince Harry and Meghan) and in the church.

Just as a church’s or nation’s composition, history, or philosophy of ministry and life can erect a wall newcomers have difficult time in scaling, let us pray and break every ‘built-in-care’ in our society that has little space for commoners and newcomers. The Royal family’s integration factor is a model for the church and the nation to follow. If the ‘commoners’ and ‘newcomers’ are welcome and integrated into the Royal family, commoners and newcomers in our societies and churches must not just be wanted, they must be needed and integrated in answer to our prayer, ‘Thy Kingdom Come.’
