The Pharisees sat in Moses’ seat and were the appointed and authorised teachers of men. Jesus, for the Truth’s sake denounced them – ‘Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!’ For the Truth’s sake, Whitefield and Wesley denounced the mere moral preaching of the clergy of their day. Peace without Truth is a false peace. O Lord, never let us be guilty of sacrificing any portion of truth on the altar of peace. O Lord, help the church to be content with nothing short of the whole gospel of Christ.
