In this days of fake news, the real and best news that humanity will ever receive is the Good news of Jesus’ birth . In loving-kindness Jesus came to reclaim our souls in mercy from the depths of sin and shame. Jesus came with tender hand and grace to life and to lift us from sinking, from shades of night to the plains of light. Jesus came proclaiming a way of fresh and clear thinking; God’s kingdom has drawn near. Jesus came, saying to you and me, “Repent and change your way and view.’

When Jesus came into Wesley’s heart, he experienced a wonderful change in his life and ministry. He received light in his soul for which long he had sought. When Jesus come into your heart, you will experience floods of joy over your soul like the sea billows roll. You will cease from wandering and going astray and your sins will be washed away. When Jesus comes into your heart, like John Wesley and Apostle Paul, you will possess a hope and joy that are steadfast, sure and abiding ‘and no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure.’ When Jesus comes into your heart, life no longer becomes a sentence of death because there is a light in the valley of pain and death for you and me. We can see the gates of the Heavenly City beyond the human walls of division, sickness, pain, and discrimination. This was the Good news of gladness that the men of old received and followed Jesus and happy as onward they marched.

Remember, ‘Calvary Christ not only led captivity captive, binding a multitude of captives – the devil and his demons,’ Advent Christ ‘spoiled principalities and powers’, making a show of them openly, and triumphing over them.’

Advent-Watch invites us to overcome the religion of consumerism, the dangerous and evil enemy of our souls that continues to rewrite and deny the plan of God’s salvation through Jesus Christ. The powers and seductions of secularism and consumerism are limited because Jesus is Coming Again. Let us prayerfully join faith the with William Chatterton and sing with joy and in preparation for the Second Coming of Jesus:

1. As with gladness men of old
Did the guiding star behold;
As with joy they hailed its light,
Leading onward, beaming bright,
So, most gracious Lord, may we
Evermore be led by Thee!

2. As with joyful steps they sped,
Saviour, to Thy lowly bed,
There to bend the knee before
Thee whom heaven and earth adore,
So may we with willing feet
Ever seek Thy mercy-seat!

3. As they offered gifts most rare
At Thy cradle, rude and bare,
So may we with holy joy,
Pure and free from sin’s alloy,
All our costliest treasures bring,
Christ, to Thee, our heavenly King!

4. Holy Jesus, every day
Keep us in the narrow way;
And when earthly things are past.
Bring our ransomed souls at last
Where they need no star to guide,
Where no clouds Thy glory hide.

5. In the heavenly country bright
Need they no created light;
Thou its Light, its Joy, its Crown,
Thou its Sun which goes not down.
There forever may we sing
Alleluias to our King!
