We are about to enter the third decade of this century and millennium. Looking back, Jan. 1, 2001 opened the 21st century and the start of a new millennium, just as the year 1 A.D. marked the beginning of the Christian calendar; January 1, 2011, opened the second decade and January 1, 2021, will open the third decade. The year 2020 is not just a new year, it is a time for the evaluation of the old decade and preparation for the new decade.

The year 2020 as a crucial year points to completeness, the end of one decade and opportunity to lay foundation for a new decade. The plan of God for you and me at this point of completeness is a plan of salvation pictured as a river flowing from the threshold of the temple increasing in volume and bringing healing and prosperity to everything it touches (Ezk 47:1-12, Ps 1, Is 65:21-24). We are at some point of making critical decisions – decisions that can be life-changing for the family, community, church, and the nations. The world is at an intersection, a crossroads and we have to make a decision as to which way we will go. 2020 is a year of decision for family, churches and nations, it either we stay short of God’s blessing or we cross the river of sin, unbelief and immorality?

God spoke to me through Joshua’s response to the full mission report of the two spies sent to Jericho where they saw how God saved Rahab through faith (Josh 2:23-24). God is saying to the church and especially, the church leaders, the priests, the God that saved Rahab is ready and prepared to save more Rahabs in the New Year 2020. God’s vision shaped by His immutable character and the eternal plan is as always about ONE mission of stepping out in faith into our different River Jordan and saving the soul of Rahabs in our nations and communities. There is a bit of Rahab in each of us, our churches, and nations today that needs salvation hence, God is saying to today’s priests, get your feet wet and step into the river. The assurance is that, God Who gives victory goes ahead of us into the New Year 2020. As God’s soldiers, we are to follow our Leader with reverence because He is the ONLY One who knows the way ahead of 2020 and beyond (Josh 3:1).

Crossing 2020 Jordans calls for priests who are carriers of the Ark of the Covenant (carriers of God’s glory and power) and not just career carriers. Priests who are carriers of the Ark of the Covenant understands the true Ark of God, the Living Immanuel, and the Coming King of kings and Lord of lords. Beyond the Ark that contained the Ten Commandments, Priests who are carriers of the Ark of the Covenant are prophetic, understands and knows that Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law (Matt 5:17). Priests who are carriers of the Ark of the Covenant understands that the Ark preserved the manna by which God fed the Israelite in the wilderness and that truly, Jesus Christ is the Bread of life (Jn 6:31-46). Priests who are carriers of the Ark of the Covenant understands that the ‘Ark held a symbol of God’s power to bring life out of death; Jesus is alive from the dead and seated at the right hand of the Father.’ Priests who are carriers of the Ark of the Covenant understands God’s blueprint and what it takes to give missional leadership and spiritual direction and formation (Josh 3:6). Today, as found in the Bible, nations and people are prone to forget the Lord, His works of salvation and sanctification and what this means to be a priest, a church or a Christian nation. One important concern of Scripture for the priests who are carriers of the Ark of the Covenant is to compromise and succumbed to the deceits, pleasure, propaganda, and prosperity of the secular world. Rather, the priests are to step out in faith and obedience to the principles and promises of Scripture.

Crossing 2020 Jordan is about a consecrated church. Just as Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, because the LORD will do wonders among you tomorrow” God is calling on the Body of Christ “to prepare, to dedicate, to be hallowed, to be holy, to be separate or set apart” in order to cross the uncrossable, the barrier between their wilderness and Promised Land. The primary reason why Israel found their way blocked which resonates with the declining and divisive state of the church and nations today is sin. Personal and corporate flood and rivers of sins continue to hinder our prayers and built barrier between us and God (Is 59:1-2). In Joshua chapter 7, we read about the effect of sin upon the congregation of God’s people (vs 16-26). Achan’s sin brought misery and defeat on the entire nation.

Crossing 2020 Jordan requires our commitment and consecration to be Holy, a clean vessel ready for God’s holy use. To cross 2020 Jordan, God demands a faithful lifestyle in His promises as we act by faith, following the Holy God and obedience to His word. To follow the Holy God, we are called to go into our Jordan River, raging river, swelled to flood of sin and overflowing its banks of evil and immorality across nations and churches. We each face powerful personal Jordans just as nations and church have their corporate Jordans that makes our lives, churches and nations ‘feel stalled, stuck on the wrong side of God’s promises.’ Our Jordans are the boundaries between our wilderness and our Promised Land. Our Jordans are the obstacles, sins, unbelief and ignorance standing between us and our Promised Land in 2020. Crossing 2020 Jordans represents passing from one level of the Christian life to another … a picture of entering into spiritual warfare to claim what God has promised.’ God is calling the church to an ‘end of a life lived by human effort and the beginning of a life of faith and obedience’ to the Bible. God is calling the priests as carriers of Ark of the Covenant to get our feets wet and step out into the Jordans with the believe that God would keep His promise and cut off the Jordans’ River of sin, unbelief and immorality in our nations and churches.
