FROM LEPROSY TO WHOLENESS

Naaman was above ordinary people and ordinary rivers. He thinks he can buy, ‘the best available health care.’ Indeed power of money can fail. Help and counsel taken from a nameless migrant lady, a victim of war, healed Naaman. The nameless lady must have the memory of what Prophet Elisha could do and what he represented. Beloved, we need to forget our importance and pride like Naaman to receive healing from our leprosy of pride, unforgiveness, anger, immorality. depression, and self centredness. I pray for someone, you will experience a ‘new skin, a new life,’ a miracle so amazing and humbling like that of Naaman ‘from leprosy to wholeness’ in Jesus name. thank you for...

EUROPE BEYOND EU REFERENDUM

On Thursday, June 23rd 2016, the people of United Kingdom spoke through a historical democratic process with a decision that is going to affect different facets of our general endeavours. The decision has revealed differences and division within United Kingdom. The good news is that the EU Referendum is not a dead end for you and me, but a signpost to God revelation in Europe and the entire world. In their joint statement, the Rev Steve Wild and Jill Barber, the President and Vice-President of the Methodist Church in Britain explained that, ‘this Referendum has shown both the best and the worst of our democracy.’ Among the challenges of our modern day democratic narratives is ‘the recurrent suspicion that more than half of the people are right more than half the time.’ This resonates very well according to Wild and Barber, ‘we do not believe that most people, however they voted in the referendum, wanted this. It certainly does not represent the kind of country that Britain wants to be.’ The argument is that people do not want the present uncertainty and dark future hence, they ‘are saddened that the referendum debate has at times promoted feelings of fear and even hatred and racism.’  Sir Winston Churchill  during his speech in Hansard in 1947 explained that ‘no one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been...

RENEWING CHAPLAINCY

ADDRESS/REPORT BY THE CHAPLAIN TO THE NIGERIAN METHODISTS CHAPLAINCY, UK/IRELAND GENERAL MEETING ON SUNDAY 26TH JUNE 2016 AT RAINHAM METHODIST CHURCH, RAINHAM. THEME:   A CALL TO AN EVANGELISTIC AND RENEWING CHAPLAINCY  Introduction: We give thanks to God for the outcome of the EU referendum. God is not author of confusion for all things God works for the good of those who love Him (Rom 8:28). As agent and a platform of renewal within the Methodist Church in Britain, the third year of the Chaplaincy/the second year of our inauguration anniversary, and end of the second year of our Management committee calls for a rethink of our purpose in such a time as this. Using the words of Walter Brueggemann, our ‘vocation is finding a purpose for being in the world that is related to the purposes of God.’ The Chaplaincy’s vision and the five year Mission Action Plan (MAP) actually emphasised a call to personal renewal as against practice of nominal Christianity in the prevailing secular political climate. Just as charity begins at home, our personal renewal begins at homes ‘where family living space doubled as a sanctuary.’ Our personal renewal is to enhance family and community renewal, and  encourage more commitment and  mentoring of our youths to become natural evangelists and a new generation of lay leaders. Our vision which goes beyond cultural or social inclinations calls us...
